Get Involved in DC Ranch Women

Committees are needed to help coordinate and facilitate the monthly social gatherings.

General DC Ranch Women planning meetings are held periodically throughout the year.

DC Ranch is a community that values a healthy lifestyle. Located at the base of what will be the nation’s largest urban land preserve, it also has a passion for the desert environment of which it is an integrated part.

In celebration of these two cherished ideals, DC Ranch maintains a network of paths and trails within the community. Paved paths meander through the community; soft trails provide a traditional hiking experience. In all, the landscaped paths and trails total approximately 33 miles and connect the neighborhoods of DC Ranch.

In addition to offering beautiful views and an opportunity to lead a healthy lifestyle, the paths and trails—with many routes and intersections—provide another way for residents to enjoy the community.

DC Ranch encompasses 47 parks —both “pocket” and formal—that encourage wildlife and provide respite, shade, and a place for residents and their guests to gather and play. Designed to represent and echo DC Ranch’s core values of connectivity and healthy living, parks are at the heart of each neighborhood to instill a close-knit mentality that fosters community building. All parks are un-gated and interconnected with the paths and trails system that that ultimately leads pedestrians, runners and cyclists to the McDowell Sonoran Preserve, which is the natural backdrop to DC Ranch.

Quick facts about DC Ranch’s neighborhood parks

The paths and trails system-to which all neighborhood parks are connected-- is designed so pedestrians never cross a street busier than the one in front of their home to get anywhere in the community.

Park benches and shade structures are strategically located throughout neighborhood parks to capture sweeping views of the McDowell Mountains.

Park amenities range from fire pits, waterfalls, seat walls and shade canopies to interesting paving patterns, and vine-covered armadas.

Each park features distinguishing characteristics unique to the neighborhood in which they are located and are designed to mimic the natural desert landscape.

Residents can also engage in a life-sized chess match at Homestead Park in Silverleaf village.

Market Street Park, located east of Market Street Plaza, is a half acre of public open space with amenities that include a fire pit, grills, a water feature, small play area, natural stage area and shade cover.

The park is a venue for the Starlight Concert Series in the spring and is host to community events. The park is managed by the DC Ranch Community Council and may be used by anyone.\

Since its founding in 1990, McDowell Sonoran Conservancy -- a grass-roots, volunteer-driven, nonprofit, advocacy and education organization-—has championed the need for, establishment of, and safe public access to the McDowell Sonoran Preserve, the Scottsdale area’s oldest treasure. At completion, the McDowell Sonoran Preserve will be the largest urban land preserve in the United States.

MSC works side-by-side with the City of Scottsdale to ensure completion, management and public appreciation of the Preserve; continuously educates residents and visitors about the Preserve’s environmental and archaeological significance; ensures the public appropriately access what they have repeatedly voted to protect; and facilitates continuity of the preserve vision in the ever-changing political environment.
